I have one of these for my bunny! I love it, and so does he. A few things I’d like to mention
1) if your bun is litterbox trained I’d bring a box and some towels. Even though the floor is water proof if you bunny pees the liquid just sits there, so there’s no absorbency at all. Personally, I bring a bathroom rug and some towels and some old t shirts for nesting. It’s important that your bun still has something to nest with/some soft surfaces.
2) Make sure you get him used to a water bowl (if he’s not already). There’s no place for the normal bottles (at least on mine).
3)The other thing I’d mention is that your bunny will need a fair amount of time outside of the playpen. Mine does well in a harness, so if I’m travelling or have a day off at home I usually find a quiet place at a park and let him explore.
4) There’s no place to hide in these things. If your boy is nervous maybe bring him a small hiding space. My bunny does okay with a wooden box that I built him. It’s just three long pieces of wood (the sides and top) and a smaller one for the back. I pack his pen, soft things, toys, food, etc. in it, and simply flip it over when we reach our destination.
Travelling with a bun takes a lot of preparation, and I’ve been blessed with a bunny that loves new places (otherwise I’d just leave him with a sitter). My bunny does binkies any time I bring out the carrier, before dashing inside. I’d honestly start preparing him now. Put him the pen ahead of time, take him and the pen somewhere new but quiet and safe. That way travelling won’t be quite so scary.
