Rapha is a young male bun, and though he’s been with me for only 1 1/4 month, he’s already about 3 months old.
When I got him the family expected the mess from territory markings but in days he was able to use his litterboxes and settle in his usual resting spots without human bother. However, about 2 days ago, he started going over to places where he shouldn’t be: my grandpa’s spot where he keeps his leather shoes (he always wears them), over to the desktop computer with a printer underneath (which is not bunny proof because it’s not supposed to be part of his territory!), under the sofa and the TV set (where he’s really not allowed).
Our house in not big and the spaces I’ve mentioned above are around 60% of the house already. What confuses me is that his territory expansion became so sudden. Along with scratching and biting my clothes (sometimes his teeth catch my skin and it hurts, haha), and nipping on slippers and shoes.
Last night I tried to put him in our room with a pull-out bed. I slept on the lower bed pulled only halfway so he can stay on the floor beside me. I transferred his stuff and put up borders of his sleeping space. What happened: he peed on my bed, kept on climbing up my bed every now and then, and constantly nipped at my clothes.
Any suggestions on how we keep him from “conquering” our territory? I don’t want to keep him in a closed cage because his squeezes himself out through the bar gaps and I’m scared that he might get stuck and suffocate.
Also, any chew toy suggestions? He’s never out of cardboard tubes and a basin of book pages to scratch and shred.
