  Hi guys! This is my first post on here. I usually google anything out of the ordinary and have found a lot of helpful answers on here. I’ve had Missy since she was a baby bun. Shes about 1 year old, dutch rabbit mix. She is not spayed because i’ve heard a lot of horror stories from friends and a few buns I follow in insta about bunnies not waking up from surgery. Thats besides the point, I might spay her in the future. Missy is a very timid bun unlike buns i’ve had in the past. Shes easily startled but very nuturing and protective once she warms up to you. As of a couple days ago ive noticed the fur at the very top of her head has taken a aeird form. It looks sort of wet.. Maybe “oily” is a better word to describe it. My initial thought was MITES, but im not too sure now. The fur isnt matted and the location of the affected area is questionable. She has been shedding lately so i thought maybe shes just letting that fur go. It looks like someone took a dropper and made an outline on her head. After extensive research, I haven’t been able to find anything that looks like it so ik reaching out here to see if anyone could help. I dont have the financial resources for a vet visit at the moment but if thats what it comes to, I will do whatever necessary. I’d really like to try to avoid the expense if there is a more simple solution so please if anyone has ever experienced this and has some insight! Missy and I would greatly appreciate it!

  Does she lay under her water bottle? Sometimes they drip.
  Sometimes new food can cause a bit of a greasy look to the fur. Have you introduced anything new to her diet? Try eliminating that and see if it clears up.
  
  Does the skin appear irritated at all underneath?
  
  (I can’t see the image so I’m not really sure if that eve makes sense)

  I can’t say I have an explanation for the greasy/wet fur… Pomandcourt had some good ideas to check out with the water-bottle or change in diet.
  
  If I were to go based solely on those pictures, I would say it’s just a normal molt-pattern; in which case I wouldn’t worry too much and just keep an eye on her. Extra brushing/combing during molts can help remove excessive loose fur and keep it out of her system. If she doesn’t put up with combs/brushes you can try using a wet hand to remove the loose fur.
  
  Is there anything that she may have stepped in that she could have then rubbed on her face, inadvertently? That would be my only other guess.
  And when in doubt, call a rabbit savvy vet and describe the issue at hand. Chances are, if it’s something simple they may be able to advise you over the phone, and if it’s an indication of something more severe they may suggest you bring her in for an exam.

  As a matter of fact, the last bale of hay she was consuming she wasn’t really a fan of. I ended up throwing a lot of it away and she picked through it more than she’s picked through other bales of timothy hay. I think that batch was just dry in itself, as shes now continued with her normal diet and a new bale of hay. Maybe her diet had something to do with it but i’ll definitely try the wet hand technique. I tried brushing her last night and she was not having it.

  If you mean the area between her eyes that looks like outline of bunny ears, that’s just a moulting pattern. I can’t see anywhere that appears oily.

  It looks like a molting pattern to me! Belle gets it sometimes. Are you sure the fur is actually greasy? Sometimes when it happens to belle the new fur looks greasy because it is sleek and new against the contrast of the old fur which is fluffy and ready to fall out ?

  I agree with the previous posts. It looks like a molting pattern. If you are having a hard time grooming her look for a silicone curry brush for horses. It is super gently and the fur really sticks to it.
