Hello all,
My bun has had two bouts of this in the past. I took her to the bet a couple of weeks ago for routine body check up and some blood work. All looking normal. Today, bunny ate, drank, pooped normally. Was running around like a wild woman. Lays down… Boom
… GI symtoms… On her tummy, up, dragging herself, letheragic. Her temperature, felt through her ears, dropped really quickly. Her tummy (and when this has happened in the past) was really sunken and awful feeling.(Not bloated, which I understand is typical)
Started with some tummy massages, tried to get her up and hopping around. She was just up and down on her belly.
I called the emerg. vet to ask if I could give her some of the medication I had left over from the last bout of this (march) and of course they said they couldn’t advise one way or another, which I understand. She suggested the safest at this point would be pain medication if I were to medicate, but only if she worsens.
So this lasted for about an hour, no change in behaviour, however drop in temperature. I got her in a towel and gave her the pain medication. She hops away (angry grunting, etc), upstairs, to the litter box and drops a few droppings. She is now grooming herself and was hopping- still refusing treats, etc.
I know the pain medication doesn’t workin seconds, however, perhaps the hustle and bustle from being chased, picked up, wrapped up, forced medication helped move things around a bit. I will be checking on her throughout the night, warm wishes and any general throughts from others with GI experience would be apprecaited!
Thanks so much
