I found our Newton hiding in a corner this morning with a tad of blood on his nose.   I dabbed it off (it wasn’t more than a smear, not even a drop) and then brought him by his food, which he hadn’t eaten yet.  He was willing to take a piece of basil/parsley but seemed to have problem really chewing it.  He then went and hid again.

We have a cable cord in the room he was sitting in that he has really been going after lately. It isn’t even in use, it was from a previous owner.  Is it possible that he was chomping on it and cut his mouth or irritated his mouth?

Since then, there has been no more blood.  I looked in the front of his mouth and didn’t see any blood or anything.  I have fed him a “crunchy carrot” treat that we got from our vet and he wants to chew on it, and will for a bit, but then stops.  He also seems to be moving the food into one side of his mouth.

He has gone back to his food plate and tried to eat some, but after a few pieces, he quits.  I think he is hungry (so that is good) but can’t seem to eat it very well.

Last week we were at the vet for a pretty bad case of head tilt.  He has been treated and is doing much much better and is hopping around happy.  He never has lost his appetite even through the head tilt.  A small part of me wonders if this is a tooth issue, one that is causing head tilt but am not convinced these are related, mostly because of that tad of blood and because earlier this morning before he was fed he was happy and doing fine and not exhibiting any of his other head tilt issues (being tilty, dizzy, having problems jumping out of his cage, etc.). 

We are going to our vet (who is wonderful) this afternoon but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of thing from a cord injury?
