With Laurana, I spent time with her in the den even if she was just in her cage to begin with, then her condo and then the x-pen that we finally put her in. I also let her hop around and let her choose if she wanted to interact with me or not. I spent time on the phone, reading, watching movies and when she finally wanted me to pet her and stuff she would come up and nudge me to say I’m here, pet me.

I also once I started her on vegs, hand fed some of them to her as well as spent some time petting and doing pseudo lifts with her (she still hates being picked up so I don’t do it much but enough for her to get comfy with me or my fiancee handling her.) I also took a soft brush and spent time brushing her coat even if it didn’t look it needed to be. These are just some tips that I used to help bond and gain a level of trust. I sometimes get rewarded more with kisses to my leg and sometimes her kissing my eyebrows and then tugging at the hair. ( I swear, I have a weird bun.)
