I don’t think regular poop should have any smell. Only cectropes poops smell awful. You can take a sample and show that to the vet so they can see what is wrong.

It could be the bunnies food? Did you change the diet? Or it could that the litter box is dirty. Clean it with 50% water and 50% white vinegar.

When my bunnies poop-mark, their poops are bigger than normal but not more smelly. They are both neutered though, I don’t know if an un-neutered girl rabbit’s marking poops could have a distinct smell.

A change of diet is otherwise a likely culprit since every change in diet creates a change in the GI flora (the plethora of various bacteria in the gut that are essential for digestion and uptake of nourishment). It’s not sth that’s bad unless it results in sticky poop or gas or poop that is extremely small (like black pepper corns). If that happens, you need to feed more hay and monitor her closely so you notice if she stops eating or pooping, that can be signs of serious GI trouble that may require a vet.

No her poops are normal sized, just icky smelling. And it isn’t all of them…. Only some. I noticed it’s the one she drops all over my floor that smell bad. The ones in her cage have no scent at all.

Definitely marking poops then. You can see they have a slight sheen to them.
The smell reminds me of corn chips. At least with my bunnohs.

Well, that’s what produces the smell, which ain’t so cool.

Haha mine kinda smell like skunk spray when they mark. The poops are generally smaller and shiny from the oils that are causing the smell. Luckily mine don’t do it that often, but if they get chasing each other, out come the shiny poops and it’s like “Ugh, come on guys, now my room smells like skunk!”

Before Yohio was neutered his droppings and urin stank, it was an almost sickening smell, musky and thick, like, but not like a human fart. But it stopped a few weeks after the neuter.

I do see the sheen is from the causative agent, but still cool that it’s visible =) (Yes, bunny poop IS an ever interesting subject! Owning bunnies does that to a person.)

Hmmm, my bunnies poop doesn’t smell at all, except for the creepy cectropes. That they eat! Most creepy thing ever. They are not yet spayed thou. Could be that my bunnies are just behaving.

Is it normal for my bum to poop Only vectors right after being spayed (yesterday)? She hasn’t done very well as it took untill4:30 this am. She didn’t eat, drink, poop, or move hardly at all. I talked to my emergency vet through out the night and ministered her all night! My vet said it’s not that unusual for it to take12 to 24 hrs for things to get moving. I’ve been trying EVERYTHING I can to get her to eat the critical care but she will NOT swallow it! Sooo I went and got her some pineapple juice and I’m waiting to see if she drinks it. I used it once before and it worked great! I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any advice!!! Oh and after she was spayed, my vet told me what was supposed to be a neuter for my boy…was actually a spay because she’s a girl!!! Lol I’m madly in love with her! She was VERY neglected when I rescued her ?

I’m assuming “vectors” is autocorrect’s idea of how to spell cecals. And it’s normal if she hasn’t eaten anything. She does have to eat now, maybe you can mix her CC with something she likes? Pinapple juice will do fine or mashed banana or whatever favorite fruit she has. Some buns appreciate canned plain pumpkin (not pie-filling). Fresh fragrant herbs might also work (not mixed with CC of course but offered freshly rinsed and dripping wet for extra hydration.)

It can take 12-24 hours for things to get moving, but the bun needs food within 24 hours. Did the ER vet have any suggestions for you? Do you have pain meds for her? Metacam is well tolerated by bunnies and should be given for 3-7 days post spay. If a bunny is in pain she’s likely to lose her appetite and her recovery will be slower. Make sure she’s kjept warm. Rabbits can have difficulties keeping warm after anesthesia and getting cold “from the inside” is dangerous for them.
