Hello everyone. I haven’t been on here for a long time. I try to let my Holland Lop bunny, Sawyer, out every day, but in the past few months he hasn’t really wanted to come out of his cage for very long. Sometimes he hops around and nibbles on things (paper, cardboard, and other things I have on the floor for him) for awhile and then after around 10 to 15 minutes he goes back in his cage. He is neutered. A friend of mine said she knows people who’s neutered bunnies became lazier afterwards. I don’t regret getting him neutered, but I wonder if that’s true?
He doesn’t seem sick and he’s eating normally. It’s been hot lately, so maybe he just gets a little too warm and doesn’t want to play as much? I keep a fan on in the room and the air conditioner keeps my house a reasonable temperature. It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is. He is most active at night and that is usually when I let him out. He seems to sleep most of the time now whereas before he would spend a lot of time throwing stuff around in his cage and making a lot of noise playing and chewing on toys. He still does this, but nowhere near as much.
I read somewhere that bunnies just don’t want to play very much when they’re older. He is a little older than a year now. Does his behavior seem normal?
He’s not afraid of people at all and will follow me around when he’s out, so he’s not going back into his cage because he is scared or anything. He seems pretty happy and content either way. Thank you for any help!
