I have to share this mistake we made a while ago, which I feel like we are still occasionally paying for.
Over easter ( i remember because who watches other peoples rabbits over easter
) We had a bonded pair of visiting rabbits, they were a 4H project that were recently separated into two cages because the owners were unaware that they were male and female, luckily they had no babies! We put these rabbits in our then empty dining room because we had room for their cages in there. Our bunny, goose, stays in our kitchen area. Goose had made curious trips to the dinning room before these bunnies arrived with no issue. I guess he could smell the rabbits in the other room, one night while at work goose made a break for it (he actually got the cage door unlatched) and ran into the other room. He proceeded to pee and poop EVERYWHERE. My newly married, unsure of a rabbit purchase husband was the first one home and cleaned the room up, it took him over 2 hours. The house smelled for days and eventually we ended up buying a carpet steamer to clean the carpet.
The other rabbits have been gone for a while now.. but Goose must still associates that room with them because anytime he can he will run in there and poop EVERYWHERE. (Now the room is blocked off with gates)
(The sheer amount of poop from this small war makes me wary of a second rabbit)
Any other interesting stories?
