  My new Lionhead male has very pronounced hip bones. Could he be underweight? His past diet doesn’t seem to have been the past. I would get pictures but they would not exactly help. He is very fluffy.

  I believe she said an all pellet diet and grass from the yard.

  He’s a baby right? Probably not a tooth issue. It could just be the result of poor diet and/or being weaned too soon, but I imagine you would want to have a vet check him over to make sure nothing else is wrong (parasites, etc). After he’s been on a good diet for awhile, you should see him gaining weight. If he’s a growing boy, you can get him an alfalfa-based pellet like Oxbow Young Bunny formula. Make sure he’s being offered plenty of grass hay (can be offered alfalfa hay too). If I remember correctly on his age, he’s too young to be introduced to veggies yet.

  he is almost 2 years old. I didn’t end up with the broken orange.
  
  Tenzin is on Young Rabbit Oxbow and unlimited hay. I picked up some food similar to what he was on and gave him some hay.
  
  They have an intake with the vet soon so he will have a check up with that.

  Hmm, well, if this bunny is 2 years old then I would definitely have him checked out. It could be poor diet and a good quality adult bunny formula would help with that. But there are other things to think about that could have caused the weight loss, so I would rule other things out first.

  Guessing pronounced his bones isn’t normal … Because his belly feels ample …
  
  Is it an emergency or can I wait for their check in?

  It’s normal to feel some bones, but you don’t want to feel “only” bone. Does that make sense? Like Wooly has a boney hip, but you can feel more than just the bone there. Is there a concave between the ribs and hips? You said he has an ample belly, so I’m assuming not.
  
  If he’s going to go to the vet anyway, then I wouldn’t worry too much. If he’s otherwise eating and pooping normally, then it probably isn’t an emergency. Just have the vet look him over whenever you made the appointment for.

  I still have to get a second carrier so I haven’t set the appointment yet. but I will monitor him I am planning to have them both neutered in the next month which would mean they would have to be examined in the next few weeks.
  
  I can only feel the hip bones when I pet along his spine its clear when I come to his hips.

  Well I just checked on him , poops look normal. He isn’t drinking a ton so I also gave him a water bowl He has peed twice and its an orange red which I have read is normal. So at the moment everything seems fine.
