Since Mr Roger has been feeling better after his trip, he’s become very, very naughty. (On the brightside, his stay away from home also re-litter trained him as the increased cage time that I’m too soppy to give him worked!)
In hopes of distracting him we went to Pets at Home and I bought him some new toys.
I was going to get him seagrass mats for under our drawers but they looked really flimsy and the hay tunnel I wanted was just a tiny bit of hay stuck onto cardboard and my wife put her foot down re: mess.
We compromised on a massive multi-story castle, a plastic tunnel and a dig box I’m not entirely sure he’ll use but plan to sprinkle his food on.
Also, Mrs absolutely-not-we’re-a-one-bun-family spotted a new bun in the adoption cages and thought he was so cute she had me ask what his special needs were. It turned out that Jarvis didn’t have any special needs (misleading signage clearly designed to steer people to the buns they charge for) and had been there for a long time BUT he was only 16-20 weeks old. My wife was concerned he’d grow too big (the random vet we saw told her that if we get a bigger one it’ll bully him, plus she’s a sucker for dwarf any-animals) and I don’t want a baby bun.
We don’t really have space for two cages but I’m hopeful that she’ll warm up to a second bun when we do have room. (I worry Roger gets bored.)
Here are pictures of him with his new toys:
