Well, Potus and Backers were successfully neutered about two weeks ago. Potus did splendid, but Backers had some healing complications. That’s why o wanted to make this post. The vet is baffled so I wondered if anyone else has experienced similar. After his surgery, one side was bruised and rather swollen. It was still this way on his 10 day check up (I had been in contact with the vet over the phone in between.) He was confused because it was basically an absess, but not infected and the sutures were fine. He said when they do the surgery, the make an incision, pull out the testicle and cord, tie off the cord and cut off the testicle, leaving a small “tail” on the cord. He said the knot is stitched under the akin more or less, and the tail will abosrb or whatever with the stitches. Something like that. Well, as far as he can figure, somewhere between the knot and the end of the cord, blood collected and made a pocket/cyst/abscess. He said the tail was not going away like it should. He gave him some antibiotics and cleaned the area. Since then, it has gone down and is looking clean and uninfected. He’s still on anti biotics and his last check up was Thursday. He goes again Monday and hopefully will be cleared. Sorry if the description was sketchy, the vet said he has never seen this happen, and is not entirely sure what happened. But Backers is in good spirits and being a good boy about his meds.
Soon the bonding starts! Woo!
