My lop (under a year old) has been having eating issues lately. Three weeks ago he was wobbly and not drinking or eating hay or pellets (or much Critical Care); the vet didn’t find anything wrong with him (they did trim his overlong front teeth again while he was there), but he was eating and drinking pretty normally again after four days, and behaving normally, except for being even hornier than usual (peeing all over me/the house, learning how to hump my leg and a plush toy). Last week he would stop eating around midday then start eating again in the evening; I figured it was because it has been very warm here, combined with my being home more often since the semester ended, and so I’m serving as a sexy distraction from his eating (?!). I had him scheduled for last Thursday for neutering and to hopefully get his developing molar spurs off, but I decided to postpone it a week, hoping he’d feel better. But the last three days he’s eaten increasingly less. Virtually no hay or pellets, some greens. He’s drinking and peeing normally, and still behaving normally. I got him to eat about half the recommended daily intake of Critical Care yesterday, and his poops were almost normal then, but he won’t touch it anymore, even concealed in greens. (He gives me a hilarious disdainful face when I put it near his mouth.) Now his poops are extremely tiny. He’s impossible to force-feed, especially when he’s as rambunctious as he is now.
I don’t know what to do. He pretty much won’t eat around me (again, a sexy distraction); my brother and mother are having slightly better luck, but those poops are still very very tiny. I’m afraid to take him to the vet again if it’s just going to stress him out some more and they’re not going to figure out what’s wrong and they’re just going to tell me to keep doing what I’m doing. I’m also afraid his horny aggressive behavior is going to become permanent. I’m just beside myself with anxiety and helplessness.
