Our dwarf rabbit was only around 4 years old. My spouse and I were out of town for a few weeks, and when we came back he seemed fine. After a day or so he stopped eating and drinking, there was blood in his pen, and he had extreme difficulty walking. The vet wasn’t sure what was going on, thought it may be a UTI, and set us up to take him to an emergency vet for tests.. We were also running a 3 day festival all weekend, and I had to dip out on my responsibilities and leave my spouse to run it alone, worrying. It turned out to be enormous bladder stones, so we have to pay $1000 (which we’re still trying to raise through a GoFundMe) for surgery to remove them, and he didn’t survive it. It’s much harder than I imagined it would ever be, it was so sudden. His vet was coincidentally a few doors down from the venue our event was being held at, so we left our event with no one running it to be with him when he passed, and then immediately had to go back to entertaining hundreds of people. We can’t bring ourselves to take down his things, but having his empty pen in our room is so upsetting..
