8 Week poops cecotropes a lot, why?

  I’ve had Moo for about a week and a half now, she is just about 9 weeks.
  
  When I first got her I was just feeding her regular Pellets that I had from my last rabbit. She kept pooping cecals during the day around the same time then my friend told me to give her OXBOW Essentials Young Rabbit Food. I just started giving her that on Sunday and she didn’t have any cecal poop just regular all day. Sunday I also gave her some lettuce and spinach as well on Monday. She’s having cecotrope poop again on Monday and today and I’m nervous. Is it the lettuce? Is a rabbit that young not suppose to eat vegetables yet? I just don’t remember when my last rabbit was that young since he lived to be 11.
  
  She gets plenty of Hay all day, Timothy Hay.
  
  What could it be? What should I do or change? She’s acting completely normal just having a ton of those during the day then at night has regular pellet poop.

  It’s their diet and you shouldn’t change it. Also some rabbits just naturally produce more cecotropes – it’s not a health or medical issue.

  wow thanks! So if she still has those poops like she does now a week from now, nothing to worry about?
  It’s ok to give her lettuce now though since she’s 9 weeks?

  As long as it’s cecals and not mushy poops.
  
  I would recommend that any new rabbit see a vet for a thorough check up including a fecal test because many times young rabbits can have coccidia.
  
  As long as your rabbit is eating plenty of grass hay and you slowly introduce the lettuce then it should be okay – like I said, make sure you read the article I linked you too concerning veggies – it’s written by a rabbit knowledgeable vet.

  ok yeah they aren’t mushy just cecal. I’ll slowly introduce lettuce in a week. Thank you!
