Hi all, I’m new here so apologies in advance for my overly detailed posts!
My male bunny has a patch of fur either side of his chest that looks matted, it doesn’t feel wet but the fur is lighter and shorter as if his dark top coat of fur has gone. When he periscopes or stretches you can see the patches don’t reach his mouth, which makes me think it’s not his teeth. He’s also got a very healthy appetite, eating everything I give him & I always watch to make sure he gets his share of pellets/veg as his partner is a bit bossy. I have noticed him grooming there but no more than I would expect. He’s bright & responsive in general and after 4 weeks living with us & slowly coming out of his shell I saw him binky for the first time a few days ago.
A bit of backstory: I recently adopted these 2 bunnies (1 male and 1 female) whose previous owner was moving overseas, he had noticed these what he called “wet patches” a few weeks before we adopted them (so about 6 weeks ago) so he took him to a vet who couldn’t see anything wrong with his teeth and suggested they put him under an anaesthetic just to get a better look at the back teeth which I didn’t think they should put him through when he’s showing no discomfort or anything.
I’m not too worried about him at the moment but I can’t find anything anywhere to explain this other than tooth issues which doesn’t add up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
