Hi there,
I’m new to the forum and seeking help on bonding my four rabbits. I currently have two pairs of bonded rabbits, all FIXED. I’ll be as descriptive as possible on explaining my current situation.
Bonded Pair A – Two Females. One of them has slightly splay front legs
Bonded Pair B – Female (Twink) & Male. Male has mild splay front legs. The female is the dominant.
Current Bonding Method/Status:
I switch litter boxes once every 3 days and have their pens next to each other. They can see and smell each other, but not bite through.
I’ve only attempted to bond Twink and the females from pair A, before adopting the male from pair B. Now that pair B is fully bonded, for three weeks currently, I’m getting ready to bond all four.
The initial bonding (before the male was adopted) started with Twink being the aggressor, however she has backed down when both rabbits from pair A were more aggressive than her. Twink was petrified, will run and hide from pair A when they are in neutral space together.
Rabbits from pair A are aggressive towards Twink, however they end up grooming her a little and will flop after a while of Twink’s unresponsiveness (due from being petrified). However during the rare times when Twink groomed herself in their presence, one of the rabbits will get up and nip her, which results in Twink fighting back or running away.
With this said, is there advice on how I should approach the bond sessions? I am a bit hesitant to place all four together in neutral space due to the male having mild splay legs. Should I introduce one girl at a time from pair A to pair B or vice versa? I know this is a major challenge to have a quad of three females and a male, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
