Okay, long story short, I managed to semi-bond two unaltered brothers (i don’t know how it happened, they just never showed aggression toward each other) but still haven’t gotten one of them to accept being handled – which is incredibly inconvenient because he’s the one that needs to be handled the most often – UNLESS he’s out with his brother. So what I’ve been doing for little over a year now is to let his brother out when he’s out and wait for them to sit side-by-side, and just wrap him in a towel and pick him up so i can do what i need to do with him (feed him medication, trim his claws, check his eyes, etc.) He doesn’t kick or struggle and the best part is there’s no chasing him around. It’s like he doesn’t even know I’m there as long as he can at least see where his brother is.
The sad thing is that I actually don’t have his brother anymore as tragically he died about three weeks ago and all I have now is my neighbor’s 8 month old mini lop doe which is not only unaltered as well, but is also almost twice his weight and very capable of doing serious damage to him very quickly. So for obvious reasons, I can’t use the same catching method with her. So does anyone have any other suggestions for catching and handling an anti-human rabbit? I can’t really spend weeks and weeks sitting and waiting for him to come to me and let me pick him up because he needs to be syringe fed medication twice a day for another week.
