  Hey Everyone! I know the general response to this question is that I should take my rabbit to the vet and seek help there, but as I prepare for that, I’d like to get some background information and advise in the subject! Thanks!
  So I have a 3 year old holland lop rabbit who has been showing some really odd symptoms today and I’m quite concerned. He lives with another female rabbit, both are fixed.
  Today I noticed that he wasn’t acting himself. The normal Jonah who is usually INSANE about food, was still eating, but in moderation. Not taking all his pellets or veggies like he usually does, as that was clearly a major red flag taking into account his normal character. And he also just seemed more timid and lethargic than normal.
  Later I was watching him, and I could see his head slightly nodding, not really twitching fast or anything, but the sort of movement us humans do with our head when we’re nodding off to sleep. He was just doing this over and over again, very subtly. I’m thinking he may be starting to develop a head tilt and that’s really concerning to me with all the possible things that could be associated with. I would just like any advise or knowledge people can offer at this point on this issue. It’s much much appreciated. Thank you!!!

  Well, it could be a number of things possibly like an inner ear infection. It’s really difficult to speculate on what it is though which is why you need to see the vet for a full exam.

  The nodding doesn’t really mean anything. My Holland does that when he’s trying not to fall asleep. If there is obvious tilting going on though, then that would be a concern. As Sarita said, it could be a number of things including an ear infection.

  With head tilt, the tilting is noticeably to one side. And doesn’t correct itself, only gets worse. So he’s eating better now? Are you noticing anything else funny with his head?

  it might be an inner ear infection. i know some bunnies are stubborn like children and dont want to go to sleep they get so excited, they will nod off and wake up and do it many times.

  With Chuck his first sign of head tilt was a slight tilt to the side. By morning it was acute and severe. With Kahlua i could see her doing a little nod-she would not do it in front of me, I had to make like I was leaving and look back-and she would nod like she was falling asleep. By the time we got to the vet (1 hour later) she was acute, tilted and rolling. For me both times it came on fast. So if it’s head tilt you’ll know soon
