Hey there, I just have a couple of questions about bonding bunnies.
My current bun, Calvin, is a 1 year old holland lop (or something similar). He’s almost 4 pounds. He’s a pretty timid bunny, doesn’t really enjoy being pet (hates being picked up) and i’m kind of worried hes not getting all the socialization he requires. So I was considering getting him a “friend”. I’ve been checking the site of my local rescue daily. I was hoping for either another lop eared, or perhaps a lionhead, as those are my favourite breeds, around the same age as Calvin. Well, she recently just added some ADORABLE baby lionheads and I just fell in love.
So my question is, because they’re so young, will that make bonding a lot harder? The babies won’t be available until they’re 4 months old, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
What has been your experience with trying to bond an adult rabbit to a younger rabbit?
Would you recommend waiting to see if one closer to his age comes available?
I’m pretty new to rabbits (only adopted Calvin 4 months ago) so any advice is appreciated.
Thank you!
