As most of you know Gamgee is not the most affectionate bunny ever except to maybe Caleb but to us he’s skittish, scared, and totally just “I’m going to ignore you” especially at first. Gamgee would nips us when we tried to pick him up or if we tried petting him he would run away and hide. He is way better now thankfully. 

I know I don’t really update much so I wanted to let everyone know how Gamgee is now. First of he still does run away from us when he’s out and we go near him but if we sit down he will usually come up to us and check us out even for a little while. Second he is still skittish with sounds and random noises *he will never be as bomb-proof as Caleb who couldn’t care less what sounds happen or how loud they are or random* but sometimes he doesn’t run away he just freezes up which I count as an improvement. Third he still nips us when we hold him for too long (which for him is longer than 10 seconds) but he’s much better and calmer about it. 

The other night I had a friend over and we were on the couch with Jake (our dog which Gamgee avoids like the plague) and Gamgee hopped right on the couch on top of Jake *who was like “ummm…I’m trying to sleep here” but didn’t really react besides that initial reaction* and climbed on top of me and got some pets and then after he was done he hopped down and ran away. BUT he hopped up by himself just to say “hi mom, I’m getting into trouble” and then hopped down I was so happy that he came up willingly to get some pets.

I know that there’s a long ways to go still to get him to a point where he’s comfortable with us totally (which is my goal) but just with the few months we’ve had him he’s opened up so much and even though he’s not the most loving bunny he is very special to Caleb and when he has his moments like these where he hops up to you for pets instead of running away

Also even though this is an update on Gamgee it wouldn’t be right not to say anything about Caleb who is just as loving as ever and adorable.
