I’m finally at a place in life where I can finally start looking into getting my female lionhead a friend! woohoo! I’ve been doing research on bonding, but I still have a few questions-
I’m going to take her to meet a male 5M old lionhead tomorrow at my local shelter, but he JUST got neutered a few days ago. How much of an effect do you think that will have? I know that he’ll still have hormones in his system . His description on the website does say he’s a gentle boy, but does need to work on gaining confidence. He also really likes to explore.
Also, she can be pretty food aggressive. For example, I’ll open the top of her cage and handle her a piece of kale, and she’ll be chewing on it, and I’ll set the other veggies i’ve brought for her next to her as shes eating and she’ll growl at the veggies! How does everyone handle having two buns and making sure everyone is getting enough? Will her aggression be a big deal?
I know i have to let her pick her new friend, but any tips on how to make things go smoothly is much appreciated! I know to look for them ignoring each other, grooming themselves/each other, stretching out etc as signs that things are going well.
My current bun is spayed btw and is about 1.5y old.
