  My Holland lop/mini lop (she’s a rescue, so we don’t know for sure) is going through a shed right now, so she has those little tufts of hair sticking out everywhere, especially over and around her bum. I’ve been trying to gently remove them so she doesn’t get an intestinal blockage from eating her hair, but she HATES it! I’ve tried manually removing the tufts with my fingers, brushing with a rubber-tipped slicker brush, and comb that has short and long teeth, and even a cat deFURminator (which she really hates, so I’ve stopped), and she hates it all. I’ve given her little treats, I’ve stroked her while I groom, I’ve had my husband do it, we’ve tried a half bunny burrito, etc. She always gets pissed and runs away! I tried it last night and she boxed my hand and then tried to bite me! I don’t want her to hate me, but I don’t want her to get a hairball either. Does anyone have any good suggestions/proven remedies?

  Hubby and I brush Marlee and Moshi every night while they eat their salads. We each use a hairbuster comb (BB store). It took a couple of days for them to accept it but now they get excited when they see us with the hairbusters because they know salads are coming.

  My buns hate to be groomed. Bindi sometimes bites me. It’s just something they have to put up with for their own good. I could never groom them on the floor, they would run away. I groom them on the table. They know they get a treat right after so it’s not all bad.

  When I’m done with Wooly, he immediately starts looking for his treat. He knows it’s coming.

  My two girls would jump right off of a table. Too scary. The day we got the M&Ms, the breeder handed Marlee to me and before I could actually take her, she climbed up my chest and jumped off my shoulder in the parking lot. Landed on the asphalt. Scared the crap out of me. Kieko has jumped from the 3rd level of her condo before, but landed in her freshly cleaned and refilled litterbox just before hubby put it back.

  My bunny has the same tuft outgrowth on his bottom. I just remove a tuft or two with my fingers when he’s not paying attention (often while he’s eating). The problem is that I can’t do a lot at one time, but removing one here and there gradually finishes the job!
  
  He’s not a fan of the hairbuster comb (he tries to bite it), but I’ll try giving him a treat next time! Interesting.
