Initially, Mr Roger had a shelf in his cage and it had a mechanism to keep his plastic bowl secure. We thought the shelf was wasting space (it had an area under it that he was too tall to fit in comfortably and had bought our own hidey for him) so we took it out.
For most of the last month he’s been fine with this, but last Tuesday I only had time to put out his longer food sticks and hay, leaving his pellets for a couple of hours later. Unfortunately, I completely forgot and didn’t realise until he’d flipped his bowl over and started to scratch at the bottom.
Since then whenever he’s had his share or the bits he likes (pellets, rather than sticks), or when it takes his fancy Mr Roger has taken to throwing his bowl around. He doesn’t play much with either the rabbit toys or DIY stuff I’ve put out so I’ve decided to leave him too it.
Additionally, in the last week I put enough hay in his box to lay in. He seems to like this and instead of very picky choosing his favourite strands, he now pulls all the hay from his hay rack to lay on in his cage.
It’s quite cute to watch.
