Hello! I want to start by saying that I am so happy to be a part of this site and that I am the happiest new bunny owner
I have been wanting a bunny for a couple of years now, I used to spend all of my time researching bunnies, taking care of them, bonding, etc and 3 days ago I finally had the opportunity to buy my own bunny!
He is a 7 week old lionhead named Leo and he is amazing, so far he has been such a good boy. I do really want to litter train him though and I know it becomes easier once he is neutered but for now I want to do all I can. I have read lots of advice so I have tried moving his litter box around to places where he likes to go (which seems to be pretty much anywhere in his cage for the most part haha) I put hay in the litter box and I havnt given him full freedom around my living room yet,(he is just in my small room where his cage is until he is trained.
It is so hard to tell when he is going to go so I dont see until AFTER it happens and by that point it is sometimes too late. Do I just reward him when he is in the litterbox? Do i put food in the litterbox? Or just hay?
Also is it a good idea to give them blanket/towel bed type thing so that he has something he is familiar with when he is not home? At night he sleeps on this towel i put in his cage which he likes but obviously he pees and poos in it at night…should I take the towel away?
Any tips and advice I would greatly appreciate it!!
