How do your bunnies react to Christmas trees and Christmas decorations? Our Boston was a chewer and a digger so she chewed on EVERYTHING…the tree, the skirt, the ornaments. We got her some willow canes and willow stars and hung them at the bottom of the tree to distract. We even had one left and put it on for Pumpkin. Pumpkin’s not really a digger or a chewer, but she has been sniffing the tree a lot. She even did a couple quick zooms under it this morning. Share your pictures!!!
Sniffing and rubbing her scent on everything.

The elusive bunny lips and bunny teeth!

Does she disapprove of Christmas? Maybe she’ll change her tune once there’s presents under there!

Had to share this ornament. Our Bridge Bunny Boston got for Jared for Christmas back in 2008. It’s one of those Hallmark things and when you push the button Daffy and Bugs fight over if its Rabbit Season or Duck Season.

I was going to post this year’s ornament, but realized it has our first and last names on it. It’s really cute and has little stockings with me, Jared’s, and Pumpkin’s names on it!
Let’s hope the “inner chewer/digger” in Pumpkin doesn’t come out once presents are under the tree! (Picturing waking up to all the presents unwrapped!)
Good thing my bunnies are upstairs — if they weren’t, I’d have to set the tree up inside an xpen! I don’t have the most well-behaved or trustworthy bunnies….!
My buns have never really cared too much about the Christmas tree. If it was real, then maybe they would. LOL We cannot put wrapped presents under the tree. Not because of the buns, but because of the dog. She is notorious for ripping open wrapped presents when we are gone. The tree goes right next to this curio, so we usually stack the presents on top of the curio. The buns have never seen a present on the floor, except when I bring theirs into their room for them to open. They just stare at them and say “what, you’re not going to open them for us?”. *sigh*
BTW, Pumpkin has a very squee-worthy bunny mouth! =D
One year we wrapped all the presents in newspaper because Boston kept chewing on them and it seemed safer. We were very classy guests at family Christmas! haha

Bramble was only born in March so hasn’t met a Christmas tree yet, I am a little worried about how he is going to react to it because he is a chewer. We have just started letting him out in the living room a bit more, we have been building up his time dependant on his behaviour but we still have to keep a constant eye on him when he is in here. I have a feeling that we will either have to find a table to put the tree on with all the associated bits and bobs, or we will have to put the tree close enough to the tv so that when we use his pen to block of the tv for his living room time it can block the tree off too. I don’t want to go back to totally restricting him from the living room because he has been getting a lot better and I don’t want him to think he has done anything wrong. We are hoping to make a start on the decorations either tomorrow or Tuesday depending on how much time I have free.
p.s. Pumpkin looks like the cutest present under the tree!
I’ve seen pictures of a NIC fence around Christmas trees, presents and all.
You could decorate the NIC fence with willow toys! Haha
I agree Kristyol Pumpkin is cutest under the tree ![]()
I love his adorable little bunny teeth. So he is chinning everything lol. Little cutie LLH I just love him. And wrapped gifts in newspaper. Very original. lol. It probably was safer too![]()
No contributing from me I don’t have a tree. If I did and had to block it I would put the xpen and the lights up high out of little Cotton Boos reach. I do have 3 small strings of lights. I love the lights. Out of Cottons reach of course. They run on batteries. Blue and green. Don’t know the color of the 3rd string. Will find out tonight when I change the batteries.
Thats funny LBJ your dog is the problem not the bunnies lol. And the bunnies won’t open the gifts they wait on you. ![]()
Pumpkin is such a festive little bun. I need to run down to the bb store and get some wreaths and willow canes
Sales tomorrow! Ha i was just looking at the canes…
Mine aren’t chewers either, so they do find the tree quite amusing. I think I have a photo of them flopped under it that I will try to find.
That is a really good idea to hang willow stars and candy canes! I might try that out, I had been eying the BB candy canes myself. They usually leave the presents alone except for if they smell good… so all bunny treat gifts have to go on a shelf!
Adorable ornament! I would love to get one… you think nine names would be too many? And no, we don’t have any kids. ![]()
LEL of course 9 is not too many!!!! And I know you can get them that big
MissD–poor Buddy just wants to play! He promises not to hurt anything!
Only 9 Amanda? I’m sure you made a math mistake….. lol!
And no need to worry about Buddy LLH, I stole him ages ago and he will be happily eating my tree when it gets put up on Saturday.
PS – Don’t tell MissD, she doesn’t need to know…….
MissD-I have people use cute little picket fences around the tree. Maybe try that?
AH-Two bunnies, four piggies, a hamster and two people. Do you reckon 10 would be a better number? Ha ha ha! ![]()
Ooooh a picket fence–cute!!! MissD I showed Jared your fence and he likes it! We ended up moving our presents to the linoleum today b/c Pumpkin won’t go out there and she keeps trying to open them.
LEL, do you have to keep your animals all separate?
The bunnies live together, the have a room with a condo in it but they are house bunnies so they go where they want. The four guinea pigs are split up into two pairs, and each pair lives in a 2×5 grid cage in a different room. Our hamster is in her palace in our bedroom.
So for the most part, they are separate. The bunnies will periscope to look at the pigs, but they can’t reach each other so they just amuse themselves trying to figure each other out. Same with the bunnies and the hamsters. In each pair of the pigs, there is one pig that doesn’t get on with one in the other pair, so they just stay with their buddy.
I could talk about these guys all day. ![]()
I’m infatuated with the piggies!! Do they have to come out for play time like bunnies? Or do they not need as much space and exercise?
