  This is pretty much all my fault.
  
  My daughter’s bunny ran out of her regular pellets and hay, and it was the night before Thanksgiving, everything was closed, so I had the brilliant idea to give her carrots and spinach. She’d never had them before. Having done some research I realize NOW that was a big mistake. Anyway, yesterday I got her some more pellets (different brand than normal…. yes, I realize now that wasn’t smart). This morning, bunny had watery stool in her cage.
  
  Besides the diarrhea, the bunny looks and acts perfectly normal, same energy level, temperament, etc. She doesn’t look sick at all. I haven’t noticed anymore diarrhea, but I’m keeping an eye on it.
  
  Anyway, I called the vet and the only vet that can treat rabbits isn’t available until Monday morning. So, I’m trying to keep bunny healthy until then. Her cage is squeaky clean, and she has plenty of water and Timothy hay. I’m not giving her anymore pellets or anything besides hay until I have her checked out by the vet.
  
  SO, what can I do to help her until she can get into the vet Monday a.m.?
  
  Please be gentle. I feel so sad and mad at myself right now.

  Is she eating and drinking okay? Any normal-ish looking poops now?

  Exactly what you are doing SHP. Just hay and monitor what’s coming out. Plenty of water as the main problem with diarrhea is dehydration just like humans.

  If everything else is normal, poops are back to normal (at least not watery), she’s drinking plenty of water, normal activity, then plenty of hay is probably the best thing. Bunnies can dehydrate pretty fast from diarrhea, and if the diarrhea continues, she needs to see an emergency vet.
  
  Gently . . . It’s always a good idea to keep extra of bunny’s normal pellets and hay on hand in case of bad weather, store runs out, etc. When I open a bag of pellets, I buy another. When I start on a new box of hay, I order another.

  Saw a lovely pile of normal poo-pellets in the corner of her cage a few hours ago. Never thought bunny poop could make me so happy. She’s drinking, I guess it’s enough, hard to tell. I put a big handful of hay in her cage and most of it is gone. I’m feeling hopeful she’ll recover from my errors. She’s still got normal energy and likes coming out to play and cuddle. She’s a sweet bunny, and I enjoy having her around.
  
  Back up food and hay is a good idea. I have a lot to learn. I’m normally a cat person, and cats are easy. Bunnies are *so* much more fragile!

  You did good NHP, perfect emergency response to a standard rookie mistake. You should be pleased you noticed the changes and acted quickly. Don’t beat yourself up. We all stuff up. You recognised it and went looking for a solution.

  This is a good sign. I would continue to keep an eye on her input and output. If things don’t continue to improve, then a vet visit is definitely in order.
  Are you able to get her regular pellets tomorrow? Keep feeding her hay until you can get them. It’s best not to yo-yo her too much before transitioning her back to her regular diet. She’s obviously sensitive to diet changes.
  For future reference, veggies are actually good for a bunny’s diet. But you want to introduce them slowly and one at a time to make sure there isn’t any upset. Have you seen the veggie list here on BB? It’s under the Bunny Info tab at the very top of the website.
