Hi, everyone! I recently adopted a female bunny who is about six months old. She is currently unaltered ( I will have her altered as soon as possible). She came from a terrible situation- she was found in a trashcan wish 11 other siblings in a park. Naturally, I treated her for fleas. She is very smart, outgoing and playful. From the get-go, she has been extremely thin. She is likely a holland lop, and weighs only 1.7lbs. I am doing my best to help her to gain weight, though. I have her on Oxbow young, critical care and alfalfa/timothy blend.
I brought her to the vet after she had the following symptoms:
-Sneezing
-Small poops
-Minor appetite loss
We did the appropriate tests, and it was determined that she had minor coccidia and pasturella. She was prescribed baytril and albon accordingly. It has been two days, and she has been doing alright. The vet is optimistic. Anyhow, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to how I could make her life a bit easier. Additionally, if you have any short-term remedies, I’d love to hear. For example, a few of my friends at the bunny rescue suggested using pedialyte to prevent dehydration, and echincea for immune support. Have any of you tried this?
Clementine and Aurora appreciate your prayers and support!
