Hi guys. I’m new here. I got Mocha from a family member who really had no idea how to take care of rabbits. She was left alone in a basement for the majority of her life (she is almost 2) so that was already tragic. He surrendered her to me about a month ago. I took her to a rabbit savvy vet and got the okay that she was in good health and got her spayed Thursday afternoon. She ate breakfast before she went into surgery. The actual spay itself went fine, incision looks good, but she has barely eaten since then. I managed to get her to eat a treat and a small piece of Kale Thursday night but that is it. This morning when I woke up, and noticed she still didn’t really eat (I’ve been trying different greens and such as well as her staples) I took her to the vet. They gave her more injectable pain meds and also 2 injectable gut stimulates plus critical care food to feed with a syringe. I fed her with the syringe before I had to go into work, hoping that by the time I got back, she wouldn’t be in so much pain and try to eat. I just got back (little less than 7 hours) and she still hasn’t touched her food. If she doesn’t eat by tomorrow I will have to hospitalize her and she is already so stressed I just feel so bad. I’ve never gone through this with a female bun before. I’ve only had boys and they’ve always bounced back pretty quick. I guess I just want good vibes because I don’t want to lose her basically as soon as I got her.
any tips? I’m freaking out.
