I have a question regarding training a second litter box.
Here is the set up. My bun is finally spayed. Had 3 unsuccessful attempts at training prior to spay. Once spayed, I waited 5 weeks and decided to start litter “training.” Training is in quotes because literally, I did not real training, she just got it. Now she has fully been litter trained. She has had one pee accident in the last two months, and that was due to being too far from the litter box. Every other time, I’ve observed her to go back into her cage and jump into the box. For poop, she is less successful but still good. i would say 95% of the poops end up in the litter box. Occasionally, she will up to 4 stray poops a day from eating hay outside the box but no poops found outside the cage at all.
Because she has shown good litter habits, I want to open the house up to her more. Currently, she can only spend time in the living room but I want her to be able to hang out in my room. However, the distance is too great so I want to prevent any potential accidents by training a second box i my room.
Questions:
1. Does this make sense and is it viable?
2. Assuming yes, how to proceed? I haven’t let her in my room yet, when I do, should I immediately take her and sit her in the litter box? Thoughts?
