I’ve ordered 2nd cut timothy and orchard grass hay from various places this Fall (2014 hay season) and the bunnies and I aren’t liking the 2nd cut tim this year. I’m finding that even when the source says that its leafy and only like 20% stalk that the orders I’m receiving are either much stalkier than that at best or have tons of other grass mixed in. (The stalks are also very hard, thin, like 2.5 to 3 ft long with no leaf or soft parts) Missing my favorite supplier’s wide leaf tim from last year, but he warned me up front that his hay was stalky this year. However, for anyone who’s interested, 2014 seems to be the year for orchard grass — everyone seems to have gorgeous orchard grass hay this year. If anyone comes across long (more than 6 inches) green leafy 2nd cut tim in bulk, please let me know!
So, my question . . . Does anyone feed their bunnies exclusively orchard grass hay? If you do, do your bunnies have lots of nice normal sized lighter colored poop?
Also, 2014 3rd cut timothy is just starting to appear so same question. Does anyone feed their bunnies 3rd cut timothy exclusively and do you bunnies have lots of normal lighter colored poop? Where do you normally get your 3rd timothy?
Thanks!
