How old is he? Here’s a diet for a rabbit around 1 year old and up.
– Fresh, clean, cool water. I change my rabbits’ water two times a day. Most rabbits prefer drinking from bowls rather than bottles. But I provide both (I usually change the bottle every other day though because they don’t drink it as much as the bowl.)
-1/4 cup of rabbit pellets (no colors, dried fruits, or nuts. Just plain green/brown pellets. I really like and reccomend Oxbow Adult Rabbit T. Make sure they are made up of timothy hay no alfalfa (alfalfa has too much calcium and makes rabbits fat.)
-At least 3 cups of 3 different types of fresh leafy veggies. I have 2 bunnies, and they both share about 8 cups each day. They usually get a base to their salad such as romaine lettuce or red leaf, they get about 1/2 bunch of cilantro, and either parsley, kale, swiss chard, etc. as an add in. Here’s a link to veggies that are and aren’t safe for rabbits. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/rabbits/tips/rabbit_vegetables.html
– The most important is hay! Your rabbit should eat at least it’s body size in grass hay every day. You can feed timothy, orchard grass, oat, or any other grass hay. NO ALFALFA or clover hays. I buy mine from a farm. It’s very fresh, really green, and my bunnies love it. The stuff at the petstore tends to be sitting on shelves for awhile, brown, and unflavorful. My bunnies much prefer farm hay than storebought hay.
Hope I helped and feel free to ask any more concerns you have!
