Mocha specifically requested this, but I figured it might be helpful for others – especially new bunny owners – to see and discuss this.
The Litterbox Routine
So, here’s the breakdown of my litterbox cleaning routine. This is what the litterbox looks like when I start – I take any clean, dry, unsoiled hay that may still be hovering at the top of the box and set it aside:

Then, I take the dirty litterbox and dump it upside down into a trash bag. Here’s what the soiled box looks like. I typically change the box once every 2-3 days.

Once the box has been tapped out into the garbage bag, it typically looks like this:

At which point, I hose the box down with vinegar and water, and wipe it clean and dry.

Then, I add the new, clean litter substrate. Currently, I’m trying out Kaytee Clean & Cozy, which is pretty much the same as CareFresh only more finely shredded. So far, I’ve really liked it!

Then, I place a handful of hay inside the box.

Finally, I place the box back inside the x-pen enclosure, right underneath the hay basket, so that the final result looks like this:
The hay basket usually gets refreshed/refilled a couple times a day.
So there you have it – my litterbox routine! Feel free to share yours, of course!
