My phone is Google based. I had to create a Gmail account to access some apps on the phone. But I never use it. Or really any Google service except the search. I don’t even think I put my real info in for the email. Does this hack affect that stuff? Sorry, I avoid the news. I’ve got enough Yuck as it is. I keep up via my family.

Bruno – It isn’t going to give them access to your phone, unless logging into your gmail account from another phone loads info – which I doubt, since usually that info is stored on your sim card – but I am not an owner of a cell phone, so I am not sure what sort of backups they do now, it might save some contact info on a backup. If you signed up for Idrive, access to your google account would give them access to that, which would include photos and such (word of warning to cell phone users: some cell phones back up every file onto a cloud server by default, disable that if you don’t want the backup on the internet.. that is how the celebs photos were stolen, they didn’t know about the auto backup).
LBJ – Yes, same account, Google’s slogan is “One account. All of Google.” Your gmail, g+, google wallet, google docs, google phone, etc are all linked now. But, if you have nothing on there for them to steal and don’t even know the login yourself, probably not much for them to get if they got access to it.
