So far I’ve been using a mix of newspaper and hay in Puck’s litter box, but I’ve found that I have to change it at least once, often twice a day or it’s smelly and generally unpleasant, not to mention making it harder to be sure how much hay he’s actually eating. I bought a small bag of wood litter pellets today to see how he gets on with them before I go buying loads and finding out he won’t use it, and I’m not sure if he’s eating it… He keeps sniffing around it, and making chewing motions, but he was also eating some hay, so it might just have been hay he was chewing on (he’s not above going for a wander while chewing on a mouthful of hay, so just because he’s moved doesn’t mean he’s done with his mouthful of hay, if that makes sense?) Obviously I don’t want him eating something he shouldn’t be… should I just go back to the newspaper/hay combo? Let him use the wood pellets when I can supervise? I’ve put a sheet of newspaper over the layer of pellets at the minute, and his hay on top, and at first he wouldn’t go near it but he seems ok now. I’m still new to bunnies so it’s hard to be sure when I’m legitimately worried about an actual problem and when I’m just being over protective
