My bunny Yohio has free roam of the bedroom, hallway and bathroom. He tends to prefer the room I’m in. When I’m in the living-room (where my other bunny resides), he prefers the hallway where he can lie on the carpet and see and hear me and Bam and the dog. When I’m in the kitchen he comes to see if I’ve a treat for him, but he’s not allowed into the kitchen, there are to many electric cables.

So I think they are VERY social animals – they really like to be near their people or rest of family – but not always in absolutely close proximity. Most of the day Yohio lies under the bed or in one of his cardboard hidey-boxes.

Yohio used to make binkies an b500s in the hallway, but he doesn’t often anymore. I think it’s a sign of maturity. Young bunnies binky more than adult bunnies. Bam hasn’t made but a few binkies during all his time with me, but he was likely over a year old when I got him, probably even older.

I took a MOOC in Animal Wellfare recently and among other stuff learned that freedom of choice is important for animals. So the fact that your rabbits can choose where they want to be is a big plus – whatever the actual choices they then decide to make.

Bobby is a free roamer and I see binkies and shivers quite a bit…but just because you don’t see them doing this doesn’t mean they aren’t since you cannot be around them 24/7.

My rabbit Bobby comes downstairs a few times a day to get pets on his “pet a stool” ottoman. Being free roam does allow him to run away from me when he doesn’t want to be bothered too LOL.
