  Yesterday my boyfriend and I took Nimmy to the vet to get his cast changed. It was great to get rid of the terrible stench, but the $72 vet bill was disappointing . Anyways leading up to the cast change Nimmy’s bandages were smelling very horrific! Since it was subject to a lot of pee and poo when he sits in his litterbox it was really bad. Like *as soon as you open the door to my room and the smell hits you in the face and you go .* Obviously as the cast was beginning to smell worse and worse we were dying to spray some air freshener, but I know that it’s harmful for bunnies so we rejected that urge. And I know getting the cast wet would only make matters worse.
  
  So, since he’s got his new cast on, and will have it for the next 3-4 weeks, I was wondering if there were safer ways to make my room smell nicer? For instance, would scented candles be okay?
  
  And look, his cast is neon green! My favorite color

  Aww look at the little munchkin.
  I have Bucky in my room who has a bit to wait before his fix and constantly sprays, which stinks. I use an air freshener that is a pot of oil which has sticks coming out of it. Really hard to explain and I have no idea what it is called but it seems to mask the smell rather well. I have also tried to use scented candles but they weren’t strong enough.

  Scented candles aren’t very strong and I’ve heard some mixed things about them. Especially Glade brand.

  Scented candles are bad for humans, so I can’t imagine they are very good for smaller more fragile bunnies.
  
  Chewing parsley is a natural breath freshener, and parsley is good for bunnies. I’m not sure how you could use it on a cast though. If you rub it on he might just lick the cast till it’s really wet making matters worse.

  I had built him a NIC cage with two levels. He loved it, but after two weeks ended up slipping off the second level and broke his elbow

  Try hanging some small bunches of lavender and rosemary. No problem if Nimmy gets hold of them as they are bunny safe and can be eaten. If you have an oil burner you can fill the top with water and placed the crushed leaves into it.

  Similarly, you could also get some essential oils of really fragrant things (lavender, rose, rosemary, etc.) and place small dishes of them out of reach to Nimmy.
