Our 7 month old girl was spayed on Thursday, she was doing really well, eating, going to the bathroom, a lot of energy, affectionate. Today I made a big mistake, I have been letting her out while I clean her cage, but today when I let her out, she jumped on the couch and jumped off. She didn’t seem in pain, but this morning when I checked the incision it appears she may have opened it a bit. Our normal vet is gone through Labor day, so she won’t be back until Tuesday. The only emergency vet equipped to deal with rabbits is about two and a half hours away. I called an emergency line that let’s you speak with a tech, I told her what happened, that she is still eating and pooping normally (aka a ton), is super hyper, affectionate, and doesn’t seem to be in pain. I washed my hands and touched the incision area, it didn’t feel any more warm than the rest of her belly, and she didn’t get upset or jump back when I touched it. I have a picture at the link below. What is really concerning is it appears to be open a bit and if you zoom in you can see one of the stitches. The vet did the internal sutures and a layer of skin glue. My main question, is it worth stressing her with 5 hours total in the car, or should I do as the vet tech said and wait and keep monitoring it?http://m.imgur.com/Rx3rmmg
I am definitely taking her to the normal vet on Tuesday.
