  So now I have enough money to buy this cage I saw at a pet store two weeks back. It costs Rs.3,000 and my parents will kill me when I bring it home (I am not telling them of my plans to buy a new cage for her ; Rs. 3000 is a big amount ). Before buying it, I want to check if it will prove to be a good, comfy home for Moshu. It is big enough for her and has a plastic base. The one which we are using at the moment is an iron wire cage with a wire flooring and isnt very spacious.
  
  But there is one concern.. its covered from the lower sides but provides ventilation only from the upper half of the sides and the top. A simple way to explain its structure..would be a boat that is covered with flap that has well-spaced bars for ventilation.
  
  The height of the cage would be 22-25 inches. Lower half of it is the covered part and the upper half would be the ventilation part. (I do not have its picture, but if you are having problems understanding its structure, I can draw a picture of it and post it here)
  
  I want to know whether or not that will cause any inconvenience in breathing. A lot of times Moshu spends her afternoon sleeping beneath my bed and I know its very, very congested there, almost like a burrow. But she comes out just fine.
  
  Please help me with some suggestions.

  Do you have all of the cage measurements? *Generally*, the cages for rabbits that are sold in pet stores are too small and way too expensive. What most of us on this forum have found is that building a cage with NIC grids or using a dog xpen is much cheaper and gives the bunny a sturdy, long-lasting home that provides appropriate space. XL dog crates can work as well, and you can attach an xpen to them for play space and still end up spending less than most pet store cages.

  Well, I would love to get an X Pen too, but I will have to check out with the prices. Pet care isnt very cheap where I live, and there aren’t too much options available. My first preference is an x-pen, but still, give me your opinions on that cage I mentioned of.

  Length: 50 inches, Height : 25 inches, Breadth : 25 inches
  
  The cage is used just for the night time. We put her inside the cage just a few minutes before we sleep and let her open in the morning.

  Personally, I’d say that size is way too small for an enclosure if she was staying there 24/7, but if she’s getting over 10 hours a day, every day, of out time and exercise and is ONLY in there during nighttime to sleep, then it might be okay.
  
  But by the way, you can find x-pens really cheap online, and you don’t necessarily have to get a really big one if she’s only in there at night. Try checking Ebay and Google Shopping. C:

  We put her in the cage only during night time, rest of the times she is outside. I am against keeping any animal in cage the whole time. I will ask for the prices of x-pen in pet stores but I am suspecting it costs more than Rs.8,000. And I am from India, so buying it from E-Bay or Google Shopping will leave me bankrupt because most products like that imported.
  
  My main concern regarding this cage is its being covered from the side and providing ventilation mainly from the top. Guide me on that.

  So long as the cage is not completely covered it should be fine. You could always test airflow by putting your hand in the cage and checking the different areas. How does it feel near the sides? The top? If you could bring a pocket fan with you try to see if you can feel the air from different angles or not. (A picture would be helpful though!)

  I had a flawed memory of that cage in my mind. I dont know why I remember it being covered from all the sides, except for the top. It isn’t It allows ventilation from the sides as well. I went to the shop today and bought it.
