  I am Anisah and currently living in Beijing-China and i am actually having a lot of difficulty finding a professional rabbit vet in here.
  
  However today i found out that one of my rabbit has a lump on his lower jaw. it seems to have 2 one is smaller and one is bigger, i was shocked when i found the lump as he always hang around with me in the afternoon and i never felt the lump before. I went to 2 doctors today
  
  1st doctor advice : to get surgery and open the wound and just let it open for his whole life ( it sounded so scary to me cus he is my first rabbit and im very attach to him) i just dont get it why would u open the wound and left it open how can my rabbit lives after that?
  
  2nd doctor advice : get in to antibiotic (Baytril) once a day for the next 10 days and metacam for 3 days and if he got any diarhea i need to stop giving the metacam. and if the swelling does not get better then i will have to get back to do the surgery. will 10 days gonna be too long what if it burst? since they all said is an abscess.
  
  I would like to ask your opinion:
  
  1. do you happen to know any rabbit vet in Beijing – China? if yes is it possible to recommend them to me? thank you
  
  2. after reading all the online information i am actually worried about the possibility of the burst abscess, or affecting the jaw bones, and also some also affecting the eyes. as i think from the information i understand so far there might be a problem with the root of his teeth.

  Are you looking for an English speaking vet?
  
  This vet (Dr Jennifer Repac) possibly has experience. The bio says she has an interest in exotic animal medicine. Rabbits are in this catergory.

  Abscesses with rabbits don’t really drain like other animals so I’m not sure the advice if the 1st vet would be successful. It’s possible to open and clean out abscess but it needs to be packed with gauze to keep it open and would require daily clean outs. It’s tricky to try keep it open.
  
  I had a rabbit who also developed a lump on his jaw virtually overnight.
  You are right, it can often be to do with overgrown tooth roots. X-rays help diagnose this.
  There are also some bacterial infections common to rabbits that can cause these lumps.

  There is a House Rabbit Society in Hong Kong – not sure how many vets they know outside of Hong Kong or perhaps some in Beijing because I cannot read their website – might be worth contacting them for any possible vet references in Beijing.

  Hey Jersey Girl,
  
  Appreciate your help im gonna try to look into this hospital if i see the next few days that the antibiotic given is not working. as i have not seen any changes yet in the size but the Our bunny seems to not want to eat anything else other than a food pellet. he does not touch his grass, and he usually loves a small treats like apples, or a small grape but he does not even take it from my hand like before.
  
  may i ask how was the experience with your previous rabbit with a lump on his jaw thanks
