Hi there, my nethie Orca has mismatched teeth. I’ve had them clipped a couple of weeks ago and already they are pretty long again. he has just been booked in for a tooth removal while i also have him neutered. This is happening on tuesday.
in the meantime he seems to be having trouble eating, im tearing his greens up small, but he seems to not be able to grasp hay and isnt interested in his pellets. he has soft poops. he is happy, hopping about and generally well. does not appear to be in pain
on his bottom teeth around the tips there is brown. im not sure if this is food, dried blood or something is wrong with the teeth. When i had them clipped last week it was quite hard, they shattered a lot and went powdery. definitely got a bad lot of teeth this wee guy… and i have booked him in for removal because i dont want to experience the clipping again it was just nasty. i dont see any other evidence that the gums have bled, no blood on his paws.
in the past he has caught his teeth on a hay rack (which is gone now) and he was bleeding, the blood got wiped on his paws, so no sign of that right now. i think his bottom teeth came a little loose when this happened. so perhaps the teeth could be dying off slowly and causing the brown? it doesnt seem to scrape off. but it could be food, pellets ground into the rough part of the tooth where it was clipped off last week. and it is that sort of colour.
anyone have any advice on the tooth colour? seen this before?
how can I make sure he can eat during the day when i work? just need to get through four more days without clipping them.
should i just try to clip? im inconfident but if thats the best answer i will do it.
should i soften his pellets with water? his water bottle is replaced with a bowl for now. and im not sure how to make sure he can eat the hay (im trying to check if he is eating, but being very amorous lately he just goes crazy trying to climb out to me for cuddles… cant watch him without him stopping trying to eat hay)
