So, bonding is apparently not my strong suit. 1st I think they KNOW I am nervous as all get out. 2nd Luna actually does not seem to care for me personally. She is fine with the boys and with my hubby. She has taken to grunting/thumping at me – and will sometimes 1/2 charge me if I am in her area and she isn’t “feeling” me.
Bonding with Luna and Licorice is well – slow going. She is more tolerant of Licorice than Chipper ever has been – but after a few minutes, she basically lets us all know she is DONE with him – she nips and charges. She also is still doing that behavior where she puts her head under his belly and basically tries to flip him over. I have no idea what that is about – but I’m doubting it’s a “love” thing. lol
We have put things on hold until she goes to the vet for her well check Tuesday. But I have other bonding concerns. 1st Luna, like Chipper has NO desire to leave her small immediate area. She has what I would describe as a “classic” stereotype bunny personality – very nervous, hides a lot. I don’t know that she can ever have free range of the house – she chews and digs. Rips stuff up, etc. Normal bun cuteness.
QUESTION: am I going about this all wrong? Should I be trying to possible bond Luna and Chipper 1st? Chipper is crazy defensive around Licorice, but he’s curious about Luna. They would be happier in an enclosure – like cage free, but with a hidy space and a big x-pen. Licorice is seriously best free-range/in a cage. (He HAS to be contained at times as he can jump up to almost 4 feet high. )
Thoughts???
