Hi.. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to do a introduction or not. But I’ll give some info before my question..
I live in the NW and have several Holland Lops. I just got some new babies to add to the bunch. One of the babies has a wet/boogie nose on just one side. She is eating, pooping, drinking and playing. She seems to be ok. no coughing or sneezing that I have noticed. It has been a little hot here since I brought her home.. it was suggested that it might be the heat or new environment. I called our regular vet and they didn’t seem worried and said I could bring her in Monday (when they were open next) I made a appointment, but also called another vet (who seemed a bit more concerned since she is a baby) and they can get me in Friday. So we will be seeing someone on Friday.
Should I do anything or be overly concerned?
The other question, and maybe its a silly one.. but how likely is it this (whatever it may be) can be transmitted to our 4 cats and 2 dogs? I’ve been washing my hands really well after touching her.
Thank you
**Update**
So I got her into the vet Friday evening. The vet said she had some kind of cold/sinus infection. I wasn’t given a actual diagnoses, but I did ask about pasturella, which she said it was not. Whatever it is, she said we caught it early. I was given a antibiotic to give her twice a day for the next week. If she isn’t better, call the vet back. Her first dose was on Friday at the vet. By the next morning, her nose was clear and dry. Same with Sunday and Monday, but today its all wet and snotty again. She is eating and drinking just fine. Being active and wanting pets. Not sure if she is getting worse or if its maybe the heat. Its VERY hot today. Already over 80 and its just after noon. I put a frozen water bottle in the hutch with her to help keep her cool and I cleaned off her nose.
Any suggestions to help her? Also, any suggestions for keeping buns cool in the heat? I have the frozen water bottles and I got a spray bottle for spraying them down. Anything else?
Thanks!
