Hello! My six year old Dutch bunny Kiwi was playing around today in the living room, and he smacked his back right foot on a plastic storage container. It made quite a loud thud, so it must’ve been a hard hit. He then started limping around and not putting weight on his foot when hoping. I put him back in his cage, and he will put a little weight on his foot while siting, but not too much. He seems to be eating still, and even played with his toys a little bit, which is a good sign, but I’m worried about him. His leg doesn’t look like it’s swelled up or anything, so I’m hoping that it’s maybe just sore? It seems unlikely to me that hitting a plastic container would cause him to break anything, but it still makes me nervous.
I’m trying really hard not to panic here, but how long should I give him to rest on his own? I was going to wait 24 hours and see if he’s any better tomorrow before calling the vet. Thanks!
