Well   you brush once a day every day I assume you already do that.  When I had a lionhead she had long hair all over with barely a break in it.  I brushed her everyday and I also trimmed the hair on her underside at her private area so it wouldn’t stain and her cecals etc wouldn’t stick. 

That helped thin the hair out some around the sides and outer hind quarters too.  

I used a hairbuster comb and a hairbrush on my lionhead.  She enjoyed being brushed.  I dont’ know if you have a hairbuster.  They are no longer being made.  So maybe a comb with the tines close together then a hairbrush.  The hairbrush with ohhhh  let me take a picture.  It may take a bit for me to post it.  I think that would work best.  See if that helps you.  Cuz you have to get thru the hair to the skin.  Else you are just brushing and combing the top layer.  You have to get thru all the layers of hair. 

I don’t like slicker brushes much.   The rubber on the ends don’t work well to me.  

ok here we go.   The trick is to get to all the layers of hair.  Down to the skin.  And go forwards and backwards.   There will be less matts this way.  Plus trimming the underside near the genitals. 

Pics of brushes.  The hairbuster is in here it is the orange rubber on it.  Not everyone likes this comb.  You have to use it at an angle. I don’t know if you can get these anymore   If not use a comb similar to it but it won’t have the rubber on it.  Thats ok.  It just keeps the hair from flying all over. 

Like I said I don’t like the slicker brushes unless they don’t have those rubber things on the ends.  Plus they don’t get all the way thru all the hair on long haired rabbits. 

Oh my gosh that picture of licorice kills me. All that hair is amazing.

The hairbuster works great for my fuzzbutts. You can get it in the BB store. Trimming problem areas is a good idea too.

I have honestly tried the Furminator, slicker brushes, and a plethora of different things. I just got the Hairbuster from BB in a few days ago. Let me tell you that thing is amazing. I have been battling fur mats with Skipper and nothing seemed to work all that well until I got the brush. I takes a bunch off and seems to be really helping. So I would strongly suggest investing in the Hairbuster.
