  I’ve had my new bunny for 1 week and a day today! He is such a happy bun, he runs fast back and forth, through his tunnel basically all around his cage and hall when we let him out for exercise time? He also does those amazing funny binky’s! Surprisingly he is “litter box” trained. The first day we brung him home I set his cage up and put him in, I noticed he was popping everywhere so I scooped up his poops and put them in the litter box then about 20 minutes after him being in the cage we put him in the litter box along with his hay and hay rack, and he began to eat the hay and poop and peed later that day. He’s been pretty good well very good at using the litter box and it makes me wonder if that is considered “litter trained”? He is now starting to dig in his food bowl, he digs all of it up and it’s all over the bottom of his cage. It gets annoying to keep cleaning it and putting it back in the bowl. What can I buy or use for him to dig in to satisfy that instinct? For the most part he is a set bunny and he just started letting us pet him. He loves it so much he falls asleep as we pet him!   If he likes to dig, you can try a box filled with paper scraps or something similar. I wouldn’t worry too much about picking up the food if he is spilling it all over. He can eat it like that and it actually might help keep him entertained.

  Yep, some bunny’s do that with their food and boy, do I know how irritating that is! Henry has stopped doing that with his pellets (thankfully!), but his salad and veg – NOPE! Some nights I feel like just chucking it onto the floor and not bothering with the plate! At first I thought it was my fault cause I used to hide/put his favourites on the bottom and I was sure he was kicking everything off to get to them first. But I stopped doing that ages ago when I worked out what he was doing, but he still insists on spreading it all over floor. So whether he is still on a nightly treasure hunt on the chance he’ll find that something special buried on the bottom or it’s just what he and some bunnies do, who knows? I just learned to except it – I’m over fighting/arguing with a bunny, he always wins!
  My Henry was (and is) perfectly litter box trained – I just had problems with his ‘spraying’, weeing and pooping on us and the dog’s on our BED! Once he was neutered I’ve never had a problem with our bed again. Yes, it sounds like your little fellow is doing wonderfully – so far! Just watch out… lol! Cheers MsBeBe_E.
