I’m thinking of ordering some fake grass for flooring in the circle like run I made surrounding the rabbit cage on the second floor. Any particular types of fake grass I should go for? There’s some fake grass on what looks like black/grey rubber stuff it’s sewed to in Homebase. Says it’s pet safe.

The grass isn’t for eating. It’s for decoration, adding some different environment feel to the cage, and maybe a nice spot to snooze on.

I have never encountered a fake grass that I would consider bunny safe. Dog and cat safe, sure, but not bunny.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Lowe’s has some indoor/outdoor carpeting I looked at online that I thought would be ideal (probably just like you are looking at). But when I saw it in the store, I noticed the “piling” were loops, and I was afraid he could get a toenail caught on it and injure himself. I also worried about him eating the rubber backing, and the tag on it regarding cleaning instructions wasn’t as easy as the gray carpet, so I got the grey instead.

Now that I know that Bumpy isn’t destructive, and he’s litterbox trained, and that he doesn’t run around like a madman in his area for the very few hours a day he’s locked away, I probably will get the green one when I change the carpeting in a few months.

Fake grass would be cool, but I would be concerned that the bunny may try to eat it. Not to mention how hard it might be to clean. The indoor-outdoor carpet works well however.
