I just got divorced, and just moved in to a new condo. My other bunnies stayed at my old house with my ex unfortunately because we didn’t want to uproot them when they are happy there.
I got this bonded (mother daughter) pair from the humane society, they are both spayed many months ago and have been together since Fauna was born obviously (she’s 9 months old now). I’ve had then here at the condo for a month now, free range, with NO problems whatsoever. They’ve been wonderful, and had SUCH a great bond.
Yesterday i was woken up by them running around, i came out and there was fur everywhere and they were fighting. I separated them for several hours. Aurora (the mom) was very stressed out the rest of the day, and had a small bite on her. She was indifferent to either fauna or i paying attention to her, she just laid there. Fauna spent some time with her, but i noticed that fauna would pee or poo whenever she went near Aurora (quite unusual since they both have immaculate litter habits). I am assuming that this is marking of territory, but i have no idea why since they’ve never done this before.
Fast forward to today…they are both doing well, until about 9am, then fauna is chasing Aurora and nipping at her, i managed to break it up right away. Then they were ok, grooming etc…i was watching them very closely, Aurora was fine, they were grooming each other, but i could see fauna kept sneaking up behind Aurora and i knew she was going to nip/chase her, and i was right! A chunk of fur out, i separated them immediately….and now i don’t know what to do.
I don’t understand why this happened.
they were 100% totally fine ever since moving in here. I dint want to start from scratch, they’ve been bonded since birth.
I was going to enclose them in a smaller area with a grid divider wall between them and see what happens, i hate to not have them together, but i dint feel its necessarily safe as fauna clearly wants to fight for some reason.
I will add that the ONLY thing that has changed is that the day before the fight i got a brand new couch delivered. And it dies seem they fight on the couch at assume point because there was fur on there too.
Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, this is so awful, I’m so stressed
Sorry for autocorrect errors, I’m sending this from my phone.
Thanks,
