I have had Krimpet, my first bun ever, for 4.5 years now (he is 5). I love him so much and he has such a great personality. I recently got a new cat who is terrorizing my bunny. At first he was okay with him and tried doing binkies when the cat was jumping in the air at his toys. It was so cute. But now the cat just wants to play and chase him. Krimpet doesn’t want to come out anymore. He hides a lot and will only come out and play and binky when the cats asleep. (I do keep them apart when I’m not there). I’ve been struggling with whether or not to get another bunny and keep the two bunnies in their own space, away from kitty.
A great opportunity appeared, and it seemed like fate, when a co-worker said he’d been keeping his bunny in the garage because they got a new puppy. I thought about it for a few days and then offered to take the bunny. He was thrilled and said he’d bring her to me yesterday. Yesterday came and went and no bunny appeared. Today, the co-worker said that his ex-wife found out that he was going to give away the bunny and became revengeful. She said she was going to take her and give her to her new step kids. He promised that she was just being spiteful and he’d get the rabbit back for me.
I have no idea if I’ll ever see her. I am just so sad. I’ve been expecting her for a week and preparing for her and shopping for her. It was like expecting a child. For those of us without children and whose pets are our kids, you know what I mean. I am just so broken up about this. I am trying to be happy that, hopefully, the bunny isn’t in a garage anymore, but I am just heartbroken.
No one seems to understand how much pain I’m feeling right now, which is why I decided to write my story here. It feels good to say what’s on my mind, but I’m sitting here at work now, crying my eyes out.
