Hello !!! I recently got myself a rabbit, but need some clarification on some things.

        • Is it possible to over feed timothy hay?
        • Tips on litter training? I currently have a box in the corner of my bun’s cage, filled with newspaper, hay, bedding, and a few droppings. Should I purchase a specific litter bedding?
        • Signs that my bun is pooping too much?
        • How do I prevent my bun from getting eye discharge?
        • Should I visit the vet bimonthly? or should I visit more frequently?

Also! The cage I purchased came with a built in hideaway spot for my bun. I’m worried that it’ll use the bathroom too frequently inside the hiding spot to the point where I can’t scoop up any droppings. The hiding spot is in an awkward place in the cage, and would be difficult to see whats going on or to clean it.

        Thank you !!!

Hello!! Welcome to BB! Here are some of my answers to your questions below.

-It is not possible to overfeed your rabbit timothy hay (they are supposed to get unlimited)
-My bunny’s litter is Yesterday’s News (paper-based litter) that I got off of Amazon. You can basically use any litter that is safe for the bun to eat . http://rabbit.org/faq-litter-training-2/ is an informative link that teaches rabbit owners everything about rabbit litter training. It helps to put hay inside the litter box.
-Rabbit’s poop a ton! It is totally normal.
          – Idk (lol) I want to know that too!
-It’s always better to get your rabbit’s checked frequently, but bimonthly is great too!

It depends on the rabbit. My rabbit gets very confused a lot with the litter box. The day I put a hidey house in Jughead’s cage he peed in it. He doesn’t get have one anymore. But like I said, it really just depends on the bunny.

Hope this helps and sorry I couldn’t answer every question!!

            1. Timothy hay should be fed unlimited.
            2. Read this:
            http://rabbit.org/faq-litter-training-2/
            3. There can never be too much poop :~)
            4. What do you mean exactly? Is there a problem now? Some discharge is perfectly normal just like in humans.
            5. Well you need an initial visit so make one as soon as possible and discuss spaying/neutering. After that annual is recommended for a well rabbit check.

What size is the cage? If you purchased it from the pet store you bought your rabbit from, chances are it’s too small for your rabbit.
